Art on Ice 2024
Nine shows, nine standing ovations, and more than 75,400 thrilled visitors
On Saturday evening Art on Ice celebrated the triumphant culmination of this year’s tour at the sold-out Eishalle in Davos. The organiser has a magic-filled week to look back on: Dave Stewart from Eurythmics, Natalie Imbruglia, Remo Forrer, Marc Storace and Jizelle, together with the Art on Ice band, guaranteed pulsating energy at the two ice rinks and the Hallenstadion. The skaters, dancers and artistes enchanted the public with their enthralling choreography both on and off the ice.
The public in Zurich, Fribourg and Davos were charmed by the best ice skaters of the day. More than 75,400 visitors rewarded all the participants with lengthy standing ovations. Remo Forrer presented his new single “Heaven or Hell” for the first time on the tour, before a live audience, accompanied by the current European champion Loena Hendrickx, who enchanted the audience and produced spine-tingling moments during her performance. The 2023 European Song Contest candidate thrilled visitors with his interpretation of Tina Turner’s global hit “We Don’t Need Another Hero” and introduced a very personal touch to the song. Also on the tour was Marc Storace, the lead singer from Krokus, who paid tribute to the late music legend Tina Turner with his performance of “Steamy Windows”.
Further highlights were the appearances by Dave Stewart and Natalie Imbruglia, who brought their greatest hits to Zurich, Fribourg and Davos and transported the audiences to another world. Both were fans of the production and praised the professional organisation.
The organisers are more than satisfied. “This tour was a success all along. There are many hours of work behind the productions, by around 1,000 people who gave their all front of stage and behind the scenes. We are very pleased that we have had such a positive reception. You can feel how the ice skaters, dancers, artistes, musicians and the whole crew have become one big family and, even after 29 years, the end of the tour is always hard. I am incredibly proud,” said Oliver Höner, producer of the Art on Ice show.
Another highlight of this year Art on Ice show was the appearances by the “Art on Ice Young Talents”, supported by AXA. Talented junior skaters Leandra Tzimpoukakis, Olivia Bacsa and Ean Weiler won through at an audition before the tour and were given the unique opportunity to demonstrate their skills to a big audience. “This initiative smooths the way for Swiss ice skating’s next generation and underlines Art on Ice’s commitment to up-and-coming skaters,” said CEO Reto Caviezel.
