Born in the Bernese Oberland, ILIRA was discovered via a single SoundCloud upload that culminated in her first record deal. This laid the foundation for her international career. In the years that followed, she made a name for herself as both a singer and songwriter. She has written for rappers, international DJs and pop stars, and collaborated with renowned artists.
From the Montreux Jazz Festival to Lollapalooza, and from Wembley Stadium to Dua Lipa’s Sunny Hill Festival, ILIRA has already appeared on some of Europe’s foremost stages. With millions of streams, multiple gold and platinum certifications, plus her number one hit alongside Alle Farben, she is among the most successful Swiss pop artists. On the strength of her voice, which boasts a range of four octaves, and her knack for soaring melodies, ILIRA’s music is unmistakeable.
Nowadays, ILIRA works independently, writes autobiographical lyrics, co-produces her songs and plays her own instruments. Her music has grown more personal, organic and immediate. In her current single “Wasn’t Made For It”, released on 4 September 2026, she confronts the realisation that we can’t just escape our inner disquiet by moving to a new place. It’s a song about searching, letting go and finding a path back to oneself.
ILIRA’s music shifts between contemporary pop, electro-pop and dance. Her songs combine catchy melodies and electronic beats with her extraordinarily powerful voice. In her more recent work, she reveals a side to her artistry that is more organic, personal and emotional.
From 4 to 13 February 2027, ILIRA will be part of Art on Ice to entertain audiences in Zurich, Fribourg and Davos with her extraordinary voice and contemporary pop sound.
